At FifthIngenium, we believe that innovation isn’t just about building new tools; it’s about restoring the natural flow of human creativity through technology. Today, we are proud to share that our latest project, AXIS, has earned a spot among the Top 25 Global Finalists in the Logitech DevStudio 2026 Challenge.
Developed in collaboration with faculty from the Politecnico di Milano (School of Architecture), AXIS is not just a modeling tool—it is a spatial thinking instrument designed to transform how architects conceive and communicate structure.
AXIS: The Line Before the Geometry
Architecture doesn’t begin with complex BIM models or parametric constraints; it begins with a single line. It starts with the architect’s ability to visualize axes, proportions, and voids.
However, a gap exists in the digital workflow: there is no immersive tool specifically designed to train rapid spatial conceptualization. AXIS was built to fill this void, creating a “Mixed Reality spatial sketch lab” where users don’t just draw on paper—they draw inside space.
Why Logitech MX Ink is the Key
The core of the AXIS experience is the Logitech MX Ink stylus. Traditional VR controllers, while powerful, often interrupt the delicate, high-precision ergonomics required for architectural sketching.
By using the MX Ink, AXIS restores:
- Manual Precision: Fine motor control and gesture continuity that feel authentic to the architectural craft.
- Stroke Hierarchy: The ability to define structural importance through pressure and movement.
- Tactile Flow: A pen-based interface that turns a digital headset into a natural extension of the architect’s hand.
Real-World Applications: From the Studio to the Construction Site
AXIS moves beyond the desk and into the physical world through Mixed Reality:
- On-Site Facade Sketching: Architects can stand in front of an existing building and draw directly over its surface using a virtual glass layer. This allows for immediate, full-scale structural interventions in their true context.
- Volumetric Design: Instead of flat projections, users create 3D spatial gestures that define the essence of a building. These sketches serve as the foundation for subsequent CAD and BIM modeling.
- Pedagogical Innovation: Supported by academic experts, AXIS is grounded in real architectural pedagogy, making it a powerful tool for students to master spatial thinking.

The Integration of AXIS with the FifthIngenium Ecosystem
The “spatial logic” driving AXIS is a cornerstone of our broader mission. The same pursuit of precision and intuitive interaction seen in AXIS fuels our flagship platforms:
- BRAIND: Empowering the “Smart Worker” in industry through holographic remote assistance and high-precision training.
- Tinalp: Our ecosystem for immersive learning, where the ability to visualize complex concepts in 3D is revolutionizing education.
The Road to Lausanne
Being selected as a finalist is a testament to our team’s dedication to blending UX design with technical excellence. As we move toward the final selection, we are refining AXIS with the goal of presenting our vision at the Logitech headquarters in Lausanne, Switzerland.
We are excited to continue redefining the boundaries of Mixed Reality, one axis at a time.
