The client wanted to enhance the local cultural heritage through Augmented Reality. The aim is to offer an interactive guided tour in a multilayered archaeological area and, at the end of the visit, to ask the tourists for personal data and a feedback on the experience.

Solution

FifthIngenium developed a Mixed Reality application, running on HoloLens 2, for an immersive and engaging visit to a Nuragic site. The augmented visit is a shared experience, during which a professional tour guide accompanies a group of visitors to the archaeological site. The guide and tourists wear a HoloLens 2 device, the experience begins with the scanning of the environment. Through the application, visitors can visualize and interact with holograms which appear during the visit, recreating suggestive scenes from the past. The 3D models accurately recreate the appearance of the environment over the centuries, accompanying the visitor in the historical evolution of the site. During the entire course of the visit, the guide describes the holographic contents inviting, from time to time, visitors to actively interact with some specific elements of the 3D scenes, to maintain a high level of attention and involvement.

The client wanted to offer an efficient Remote Assistance to its clients, with the aim to have business continuity during the COVID-19 pandemic, when traveling costs and times increased, by allowing a remote expert to being “phygitally” present near the local operator and the machine.

HoloRelayout is the HoloLens application developed by FifthIngenium which solves this challenge: using Augmented Reality is possible to support the set-up and relayout operations of the line workstations, ensuring compliance with the rules of ergonomics and the physical spaces occupied by machineries, operators and tools, and reducing the risk of errors and the subsequent costs. This solution offers the possibility of positioning the hologram of machineries to evaluate the overall dimensions of the new production line. What did the customer ask for?

The client wanted to support operators during maintenance operations, to ensure that all the tasks and procedures are carried out in the correct order and following the steps described in the instruction manuals of each machinery.

Solution

The developed Augmented Reality application can guide the operator step by step in the maintenance phase. By approaching the machine while wearing Microsoft Hololens running FifthIngenium’s custom app, the operator will be able to visualize the sequence of operations (checklist) he/she has to verify, each one displayed on a different block, with a clear indication to safety devices present on or nearby the machinery. For each step the operator can indicate if the task has been carried out or immediately report problems to the head of the shift through the app, which is connected to the factory signaling system. Finally, if necessary, the operator can load and display the instruction manual or videos with the technical data sheet, to learn or be reminded how to perform the required operations, while keeping his hands completely free.

The client wanted to offer its own customers an easy tool for maintenance and assistance for its main product, a “smart cable”, optimizing the cable maintenance process and offering the operator the possibility to receive real-time data from the smart cables via the embedded IoT framework without wasting paper.

HoloCable is the HoloLens application developed by FifthIngenium to satisfy the client needs. Using HoloLens, thanks to Mixed Reality the worker can access the real-time augmented information about the state of wear and tear of the cable, and the related technical data. 

By having the information ready and displayed on a holographic board’s, whenever the IoT framework transmits a non-optimal status message, the worker can instantly access all the relevant data of the cable and easily proceed with the direct request for intervention, through the app itself.

Microsoft contacted us to collaborate with them, Teorema (technological solutions) and PWC (consultancy and project management). The client uses Dicom x-ray sequences files. The idea was to transform these files into 3D models for Augmented Reality.

Solution

FifthIngenium developed the HoloLens app. The 3D model, along with the patient information, is imported and displayed in Augmented Reality thanks to Microsoft Hololens holographic technology. In addition, the App features the possibility of interacting with the 3D model, including automatic rotation, resizing controls, cutting planes used to section the 3D model and look inside it. 3D Viewer is an Augmented Reality application developed by FifthIngenium that allows to display digital 3D models within the real physical space. The application uses Microsoft HoloLens holographic technology to display new design elements and any related technical details. 

Solution

Designed for Industry 4.0, it allows the creation and addition of 3D models in the app simply via QR code, at any time. The user can interact through a menu with the 3D object in different ways: by moving it or anchoring it in space; adding cutting planes for sectioning and analyzing the details; focusing one or more components, making some transparent, for a more targeted focus; share the experience among several people, for simultaneous observation of the same 3D object, both in presence and/or from remote.

FifthIngenium brought the Sea in Milan, in the central Piazza Gae Aulenti, to focus people attention on the beauty and  fragility of the sea environment. LabyrinTEA Experience

What did the customer ask for?

Coca-Cola wanted to launch its new product, the iced tea FUZETEA, with a 4 days special event set in the heart of Milan, offering a brand new and immersive experience for visitors’ all five senses. 

Solution

FifthIngenium took part in the launch of FUZETEA at the Arco della Pace. It was a wonderful, multisensory experience set in a real 200 square meters plants labyrinth, where sensory perception went beyond reality. In LabyrinTea visitors could be immersed in unexpected visions that came to life before their eyes thanks to HoloLens. Using this 3D viewer, every visitor discovered the surprises scattered along the labyrinth’s path and lived a unique and engaging experience for the first time available to the general public. At the end of the walk in the labyrinth, people could finally taste the iced tea.
